Two tax whistleblowers will receive a reward of over several hundred thousand dollars due to the efforts of the IRS Whistleblower Office.
Based on information the whistleblowers provided, John Hayden LaRue Jr., who owned Medical Contracting Services, Inc., was investigated by the IRS, indicted, and plead guilty to three counts of failing to file an income tax return. The defendant was sentenced to 24 months in prison and restitution of over $2 million.
The whistleblowers received the full 15% reward allotted under the IRS 211 program, the IRS reward program that was in place when the whistleblowers filed the case. The Whistleblower’s Office was instrumental in making sure that they were paid the full reward allowed.
