Minnesota Transit Constructors to Pay U.S. $4.6 Million to Resolve False Claims Act Liability

Minnesota Transit Constructors Inc. (MnTC) and several subcontractors agreed to pay $4.6 million to the federal government to resolve allegations that they knowingly submitted false claims related to a federally funded construction project.  MnTC, a joint venture by Granite Construction, C.S. McCrossan Inc., and Parsons Transportation Group, was contracted to construct the Hiawatha Light Rail Transit System in Minnesota.

The government alleged that as a federal contractor, MnTC falsely certified that it would use Disadvantaged Business Enterprises for part of the work on the project, when in fact it had not.
