Red River Computer Co., a New Hampshire-based reseller of computer equipment, software, and support, today [?] reached an agreement with the Department of Justice that resolves allegations that it violated the False Claims Act. Under the agreement, Red River will pay $2.3 million to settle allegations that it defrauded several federal agencies – including the Departments of Defense, Commerce, and the Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Library of Congress, and the General Services Administration – in its provision of computer equipment and support.
Allegations against Red River include that it was paid to obtain Sun Microsystems service support coverage, but failed to do so, that it was paid to obtain Cisco SMARTNET for the Army, but failed to fully do so and obtained a partial refund from Cisco without reimbursing the Army, and that it was paid specifically to obtain Panasonic branded memory for government computers and instead obtained third party memory, without advising the government of the product substitution.
