After receiving a Government Affairs Office (GAO) report, senators of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs subcommittee on Federal Financial Management, Government Information, Federal Services and International Security praised the efforts of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in effectively allocating federal dollars in fighting waste and fraud. CMS has improved results by factoring in priorities and performance goals when creating budgets, rather than making determinations based on the previous year’s patterns.
Senators John McCain and Tom Carper encouraged CMS to do even more to combat fraud.
