American Systems Corporation, Anixter International Inc., and Corning Cable Systems LLC will pay a combined $3 million to settle claims brought against them under the federal False Claims Act and the Anti-Kickback Act. The government alleged that the three contractors, working in concert, offered gifts to CIA employees and consultants in order to influence contract specifications in the companies’ favor. The case began as a qui tam action brought by William Jones, formerly a sales representative for Anixter. Jones will receive $585,000 from the recovery as an award for blowing the whistle.
