Amedisys Inc. and affiliated companies have agreed to pay $150 million to settle allegations that the home healthcare company violated the False Claims Act by billilling Medicare for unnecessary services and provided services to patients that did not meet home healthcare requirements. Additionally, the FCA case alleged that Amedisys provided home healthcare services to an oncology practice at a below-market rate in order to induce referrals from that practice.
