SEC Announces FY2022 Enforcement Results, Including Major Awards to Whistleblowers

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced today that it had filed 760 total enforcement actions in fiscal year 2022, a 9 percent increase over the prior year.  The SEC’s Office of the Whistleblower – the division within the SEC responsible for administering the SEC Whistleblower Program – reported that it issued approximately $229 million in 103 awards in fiscal year 2022, making it the SEC’s second highest year in terms of dollar amounts and number of awards.  The SEC also highlighted actions it took against individuals and entities that attempted to retaliate against or otherwise impede whistleblowers from coming forward.  Finally, the SEC reported that it had received more than 12,300 whistleblower tips in fiscal year 2022 alone.
